Codex Argenteus (Silver Bible) Recreation

Codex Argenteus (Silver Bible) Recreation
Codex Argenteus (Silver Bible) Recreation. A recreation based on the Codex Argenteus - the Silver Bible - The Lord's Prayer about 7 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches. Printed on vellum paper and framed. The original was hand written on purple parchment in silver and gold ink. It is a 6th century translation of the Bible into the Gothic language by Bishop Ulfila's 4th century original. The manuscript is written in an uncial script in the Gothic alphabet. At the bottom of each page, are four arcades which encloses the monograms of the four evangelists. The "Silver Bible" was probably written for the Ostrogothic King Theodoric the Great. It was made as a special book written with gold and silver ink on high-quality thin vellum stained a regal purple, with an ornate binding. What you are buying is a recreation and not an original.
