The Aramaic inscription on the side of the ossuary reads: Ya'akov bar-Yosef akhui diYeshua, "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus." Matthew 13:55 states,"Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethern, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?" This is the first extrabiblical evidence of Jesus and James in stone.
