Biblical Archaeology:
Ebla

Another great discovery was thousands of tablets at the ancient city of Ebla in Syria.

In 1975 at Ebla, modern Tel Mardikh thousands of tablets were discovered written in an unknown language now called Eblaite. A number of the Eblaite personal names are similar to Biblical names, like Abraham, Isaac, and Saul.

There have been claims that the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are mentioned, but on closer examination this is very unlikely. Many tablets still need to be translated.
