This is a recreation of a page from the Revelation of the Magi, a 8th century A.D. manuscript which probably was originally written in the second or third century A.D. This manuscript was discovered in the 18th century in a Turkish monastery. It was later given to the Vatican library. It tells a detailed story about the wise men or magi. It is written in Syriac, a dialect of Aramaic used by early Christians.
