Queen Nefertiti was the wife of Akhenaten (Amenhotep IV, 1340-1334 BC) and daughter of vizier Ay (brother of Queen Tiy). Akhenaten is known for his heretical worship of the sun god Aten only. He moved the capitol to Amarna. Nefertiti may have been the power behind the throne. She bore six daughters. She died in year 12 of Akhenatens reign.
