P39 (POXY 1780) Recreation: A recreation of a papyrus fragment from the Gospel of John (John 8:14-22) now the second oldest copy of a fragment of Johns Gospel after Bodmer III P75. It is a full height half segment of a page from the gospel written in a large Greek hand, and by the quality of the text obviously by a professional scribe. It comes from what was a paginated codex on papyrus and dates to c200AD. It was found along with the huge cache of papyrii at Oxyrhynchus in Egypt by Grenfell and Hunt and is classified as one of the most beautiful gospel texts fragments ever found. This hand made recreation shows both sides of the single fragment on two separate pieces of papyrus. Mounted in a 8 1/2 by 11 inch frame. 235mm(H) x 70mm (W) each fragment. (9 x 2 3/4 inches)
